Welcome to the NCP Program

Welcome to the learning platform for the New Colombo Plan (NCP) Program of the International Summer Course (ISC) BIOTROP 2026.

This program extends the core summer course into a 4-week immersive experience (28 June – 25 July 2026) tailored for Australian students in collaboration with UGM and UTS to build Indo-Pacific capability and Asia literacy.

0.0.1 Program Structure

  • Week 1 (29 June – 3 July): Indonesian Language and Culture Learning (INCULS) An introductory course by the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, UGM. Includes practical language basics, cultural lectures, Batik making, and heritage site visits in Yogyakarta.
  • Week 2 (6 – 9 July): Core Coursework (Online Pre-Course) Four days of hybrid lectures covering biodiversity data foundations, experimental design, genomics, and spatial policy.
  • Week 3 (13 – 18 July): Core Coursework (Onsite Program) Six days of intensive onsite fieldwork, DNA extraction/sequencing labs, QGIS spatial modeling, and presenting at the Student Biodiversity Summit.
  • Week 4 (20 – 25 July): “Ramban Rimba” Field Trip with Genau Foundation A 3D2N immersion in Petungkriyono, Pekalongan—one of Java’s last remaining tropical rainforests—focusing on community-based conservation of the Javanese Gibbon (Owa Jawa).
